✖ CHARACTER:
Name: Anew Returner
Canon: Mobile Suit Gundam 00
PB/Image: Here and here
Canon Point: Season 2 Episode 20, after escaping the Ptolemy
Species: Innovade
Gender & Sex: Female. Now it should be clarified that most innovades are genderless, but Anew was made specifically as a woman in order to make her spy role easier.
Age: Non established; as an Innovade Anew was born with her current appearance and behavior, which is that of a woman in her mid-20s
Orientation: In cannon, Anew is shown to be heterosexual, since she establishes a romantic relationship with pilot Lyle Dylandy
History: http://gundam.wikia.com/wiki/Anew_Returner
Appearance: Despite probably being just a few months old, Anew was born with the appearance of a woman in her mid to late twenties. She has lavender hair and redish chesnut eyes. Her height is about 1,70 m and weights 49 kg.
Personality: (300 word min - paragraph form!)
The first time you speak to Anew Returner, it will be easy to understand why nobody on the Ptolemaios’s crew was able to notice her status as Celestial Being’s enemy. She’s usually social, polite, calm, soft-spoken and worried about others; in short, she has no problems in making bonds with people, even if she doesn’t talk a lot about herself. And let’s face it; she’s the last person you would expect to point a gun at your face.
She’s also very committed and dedicated to any task she’s assigned to, and she’s pretty much aware of the usefulness of her various skills, but not enough to be presumptuous about them and she’s shown to be embarrassed when people start talking about her in a positive light. She’s not afraid to voice her concerns about certain matters; especially those who require more practical thinking, like tactical planning or medicine.
However, she likes to keep her personal issues away from the public eye, like her romance with Lyle Dylandy or her lack of memories about her own past. Not only that, but she’s very secretive about her personal life, to the point she might find herself out of words or acting out of instinct, like when she punched Lyle when she noticed that they were about to get caught kissing.
Anew’s lack of a personal past is due to her status as a sleeper agent; her memory was erased by Ribbons Almark, the Innovade leader, in order to infiltrate the enemy’s ranks without anybody noticing. At this point in cannon though, Anew does remember her role as a spy. This is a major source of conflict for her, since at one hand she has her friends and her lover, and at the other is the purpose she was (literally) created for: to aid Ribbons Alrmark in the destruction of Celestial Being.
She’s also pretty quick to adapt to the situations she gets into, and all while maintaining a calm demeanor. If she has to repair an engine or hold someone hostage, she will do it while barely raising her voice, carefully analyzing the situation at hand and collecting information before taking action, unless there’s something personal for her in the middle.
The hostage situation is a good example for this, at first Anew manages to maintain control of the situation while showing less anger than other people would show in this type of scenario. However, as soon Lyle appears she slowly begins to act less carefully, which eventually leads to her losing her hostage.
This type of adaptability allows her to complete tasks with nearly perfect efficiency, even the nasty ones. However she has some mannerisms that can get in the way.
For starters, it has been shown in cannon that she’s not the type of person who would get her hands extremely dirty, since despite having the perfect opportunity to fatally shot Lasse, she simply sets for shooting him in the gut, and one of the side novels directly states that she has a personal aversion to harm persons of her same gender. This last trait is proven true when she avoids physical or even verbal confrontation with bridge member Feldt Grace, whom Anew could have easily shot when she revealed herself as an innovade.
In fact, the conflict between her emotions and her knowledge seems more evident by now; her mind seems to be with the Innovators, due to the programing she was born with, while her heart remains attached to Celestial Being. This is because of the time she has spent with the crew, a time she has not spent with any with the other Innovators, so she doesn’t seem to care for them that much.
This is especially true when Anew interacts with her genetic twin, Revive Revival. While Revive seems to have a certain concern for her, Anew barely speaks with him, and when she does it, it feels like she’s addressing him as a coworker she only knows by name. This interaction is very different from the one she has with Tieria, another innovade working for Celestial Being, or the other bridge members of the Ptolemy, all of whom Anew interacts with in a very polite, slightly affectionate demeanor. Even after revealing herself as their enemy, Anew never brings up her condition as something they should feel inferior to, she only brings it up as the simple reason of why they are enemies.
But for Anew, the relationship that matters the most is the one she shares with Gundam Meister Lyle Dylandy. He first met Anew when she joined the Ptolemaios’s crew, and they eventually fell in love with each other. He has become Anew’s most important person. Even if his smugness and frontal approach can embarrass her a bit (Nice idea to say “I love you” in front of everyone), she enjoys his kindness and concern for her.
These small but unique traits is what shows that Anew, as all innovades, while given an specific type of function since birth, is capable of developing a personalities of her own that can actually push her to act against that said function, which in this case would be her emotions and personal manners getting on the way of her role as a spy.
This may not be enough to make her quit to Ribbons’s side, though, since she’s shown to be pretty obedient when performing her duties. However there’s some clear conflict within her at this point, since at one point after her awakening she admits to herself that she really loved Lyle, and when he confronts her about the possibility of her feelings being fabricated, she can’t answer him, signaling that her time with the crew has affected her more than she would admit.
Abilities:
Innovade: While not designed for combat as other individuals of her kind, Anew still mantains the sharp reflexes and acces to QBW (Quantum Brain Wave) that other innovades have. She's also proficient in a number of areas thanks to her programing.
Engeniering: She's shown assisting with the developing of support units for the Celestial Being crew.
Piloting: During her time on board, she was the pilot of the Ptolemaios and later was shown piloting a mobile suit.
Medicine: She's mentioned to have knowledges in regenerative medicine and was the crews medic on board
Cooking: Mentioned but never shown in cannon.

First-Person Network Entry:
[When the feeds turns in, a femenine face framed in lavander hair shows up, she seems friendly but a little shaken up]
Greetings [She gives a small nod and pauses for a moment] I just arrived here and I need to know the specifics of my location and if there’s anything I should know before starting to help around here [She assumed that she was brought there because she had a function to fulfill] But I'm not entirely sure about the house I was told to habit and I still don't have the specifics about this place locations and I would really apreaciate more information about the area
[She thinks that she should give her name just for courtesy, but after giving it some thought she decides that it should be better to gather some more before giving her personal data] Also I would like to get in contact with the people in charge.. [As long as they weren’t as blunt as…
A small frown forms in a kind face. She knew already. And she wasn’t exactly thrilled, but duty is duty] That would be all, any information would be much appreciated, thanks. [She nods again and turns off the feed]
Third Person entry:
Even though she wasn't the type of person who would gather hate towards anything, not even at Ribbons for forcing her to take such a violent approach, Anew was quickly becoming bothered at the idea of not doing anything and lacking a place where she could do something useful.
Sure, she somehow aprecitted being away from the battlefield, but the idea of being thrown into this place without any type of orientation and practically cut from any type of contact with those who claimed to be on her side was starting to get in her nerves, though not even nearly enough to make her break her normally polite behavior.
As she walked down the street, now with a newly bought civilian outfit, she also pondered that this wasn't the worst place to end on. It seemed peacefull and there was no presence of mayor conflicts like in her previous location. But that didn't mean that the tranquility of the place was enough to calm her inner turmoil.
“It was all a lie”, she thought with sadness that she couldn’t understand. She could feel pity for Celestial Being’s impending demise, but she shouldn’t feel this longing for coming back to them, for coming back to him.
"I ll fix that later", she whispered to herself as she walked down the alley.
After she first arrived, she tried to distract herself by simply enjoying the pleasant eviroment, but as the time went by, her concerns about those who were now her enemies became harder and harder to bear. To the point she had begun to ponder if being left here alone without being able to know the Ptolemy's status was some sort of punishment from Ribbons's part due to her faliure.
It seemed apropiate for him.
But she couldn't jump into such a conclussion, not without solid evidence. So for now she'll just settle for looking for a distraction, even when she knows it's a futile effort.
